An adult becomes a Catholic through the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults. Every sacrament is an encounter with Christ, who is himself the original sacrament. The sacraments of initiation are Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. These sacraments introduce the recipient into the Catholic faith and lay the foundation of every Christian life. The O.C.I.A. program prepares adults to receive some or all of the sacraments, thereby entering into the Church, which is the Body of Christ.
St. Victor’s offers O.C.I.A. classes in the Fall of each year. O.C.I.A. is for adults desiring baptism, those Christians baptized into other ecclesial communities and would like to become Catholic, baptized Catholics who wish to complete their sacraments of initiation, and those Catholics who just want to learn more about their faith. Classes begin Tuesday September 27 at 7:00p..m. in the parish office.

“The sharing in the divine nature given to men through the grace of Christ bears a certain likeness to the origin, development, and nourishing of natural life. The faithful are born anew by Baptism, strengthened by the sacrament of Confirmation, and receive in the Eucharist the food of eternal life. By means of these sacraments of Christian initiation, they thus receive in increasing measure the treasures of the divine life and advance toward the perfection of charity.”
